Robots and Avatars – our colleagues and playmates of the future.

orlaLed by body>data>space with KIBLA and AltArt this innovative project explores how young people will work and play with new representational forms of themselves and others in virtual and physical life in the next 10-15 years.

It examines multi-identity evolutions of today’s younger generations within the context of a world in which virtual and physical spaces are increasingly blended.

Robots and Avatars was initially conceived and produced by body>data>space, with key partner NESTA. A participatory web and events led programme with connected educational activities took place in 2010.

From May 2011 to May 2013, the project has been developed at an European level by body>data>space (London, UK), KIBLA (Maribor, Slovenia) and AltArt (Cluj-Napoca, Romania), in partnership with FACT (Liverpool) and National Theatre (London) in the UK, with the support of the EU Culture Programme (2007-13).

The project has comprised a mobile exhibition of artworks largely covered by international press, learning experiences, artist interviews, debates and a publication.
